Inchcape

Inchcape, an automotive distribution and retail company required a modernisation of their existing office space to create a versatile workplace which could attract new talent, inspire staff and ultimately, facilitate future growth.

The space, which occupies the second floor and part of the third floor of a mixed-use building in St James’s Square in London, was previously bland and dimly lit, with no areas for collaborative working or soft-seat breakout areas. Area oversaw the project which replaced the banks of unused and unwelcome desks with spaces dedicated to group work.

Collaborating with existing employees was key in delivering a space which was both attractive and comfortable to work in, as well as supporting existing and future work practices. The finalised office space is light and airy, boasting a contemporary aesthetic and numerous breakout points for agile working or general relaxation.

A bright new refreshment and meeting area has been added at the entrance to the second floor, where staff and visitors are greeted. The meeting suite on the third floor has been refreshed with new flooring and improved acoustics to create a more focussed environment.

The high back chair combines striking design with all-round privacy within the open-plan office space, as well as reducing surrounding noise levels, creating a secluded environment for quiet contemplation. The low-back Dixi chair is able to retain the striking design element of the higher variation, whilst adding a raw aesthetic with the wire base.
