Howden

By prioritising people, the planet and place, TSK created an environment that supports Howden’s future growth.

Howden’s, a global insurance giant, began as a small broker in London in 1994 and has since expanded to employ 18,000 people. This growth necessitated consolidating their three separate locations in the North West into a single office, bringing together employees from various branches under one roof.

Canova work-café chairs were used on the ground floor in an inviting, coffee bar area for employees and visitors to socialise and also in collaborative spaces throughout the building. Touchdown zones, workstations, focus rooms and a flexible meeting suite also feature, whilst the Nomad 2 seater low back sofas are used to create touchdown zones and a space for informal gatherings.

Taking a sustainable approach, the design brief aimed to create an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly workplace that reduces costs and minimizes the organisation’s carbon footprint. By repurposing elements from the existing building, TSK executed a cost-effective and eco-friendly transformation.

Muse booths offer a private work or touchdown zone, allowing employees to take advantage of the reduced peripheral vision and buffering external noise distractions in the busy office.

Featuring a bold, uplifting, and dynamic design, the Manchester hub reflects Howden’s global brand. Biophilic elements create a relaxing and calming atmosphere, while local artwork adds personal touches that foster a distinct sense of place.
